Uninstall a plugin cleanly

On this page

Uninstalling takes a plugin out of your store and stops its billing. A few minutes of tidying first makes sure nothing is left behind. This tutorial covers before, during and after.

Steps in short

  1. Pause or delete bundles, and note anything the plugin created.
  2. Choose Uninstall from the plugin’s ⋯ menu.
  3. Billing stops, access is revoked and widgets stop showing.
  4. Delete the plugin’s elements from your templates and publish.
  5. Your settings come back; there’s no second free trial.

1. Tidy up first

  • Product Bundles & Kits — bundle products stay in your catalogue and keep selling, but stock is no longer taken off their items. Pause or Delete each bundle first.
  • Delivery & Installation — its service products stay in your catalogue, and customers stop getting booking emails. Book any outstanding deliveries first.
  • Statements & Credit Control — statement links stop working straight away. Export anything you need from Reports first.
  • Modular 3D Builder — saved layouts and enquiries are kept for 30 days in case you come back, then deleted.
  • AI Product Recommendations and Quick Order Pad don’t change your catalogue, so there’s nothing to undo.

2. Uninstall it

On the Plugins page, open the ⋯ menu next to the plugin and choose Uninstall. Orbit asks you to confirm: “This removes the plugin from your store. Any data it stored may be lost.” For a paid plugin it also tells you the date after which you won’t be charged.

3. What happens next

  • The subscription is cancelled at the end of the current period, with no further charges.
  • The plugin loses all access to your store, and its sidebar entry and dashboard cards disappear.
  • Its widgets stop showing on your storefront.

4. Remove its widgets from your pages

The elements you placed stay in your templates and leave an empty space. Open each template or page that had one — usually your product page template — delete the element, then Save and Publish.

5. Reinstalling later

Reinstall from the plugin store as before and approve its permissions again. Your settings come back, but there’s no second free trial. If you reinstall before the paid period you cancelled ends, you keep using it at no extra cost.
