Assembly, installation, delivery to a room of choice, old furniture removal and WEEE take-back can all be sold as extras on the product page. Customers choose them before checkout and pay for them with the rest of their order. In this tutorial we’ll create a service, price it, choose where it’s offered and put it on your product pages.
Steps in short
- Open the Services tab and add a service.
- Price it per item, as a percentage of the price, or as a flat fee.
- Use Offer it on to pick products, categories, brands or tags.
- Tick Exclude from search on each new service product.
- Add the widget to your product template with a Product Review element.
1. Add a service
Go to Plugins → Deliveries and open the Services tab. If you don’t have any services yet, start from one of the typical office-furniture prices and adjust it:
- Chair assembly — £10 per chair
- Desk & storage installation — £30 each
- Meeting table installation — £40 each
- Installation — 10% of the price
- Delivery to room of choice — flat fee
- Old furniture removal — per item, with a minimum
- WEEE take-back — for motorised sit-stand desks, to help you meet your take-back duty for electrical items
Or press Add service to start from scratch.
2. Choose how it’s priced
- Per item — for example £10 × 4 chairs = £40. Add a minimum charge and small orders are rounded up to it: with a £30 minimum, one chair is charged £30.
- Percentage of price — for example 10% of a £449 desk = £45, rounded up to the next whole pound.
- Flat fee — one charge per order, however many items.
3. Choose which products offer it
Offer it on decides which product pages show the service: all products, or only chosen categories, brands, tags or specific products. Type category and brand names exactly as they appear in your catalogue — capitals don’t matter.
4. Tidy up the service product
When you save, the plugin creates a matching service product in your catalogue so your normal basket and checkout can charge for it. It’s non-physical, doesn’t track stock and is tagged rocketworks-delivery-service. Do two small things once for each one:
- Open it in Products and tick Exclude from search, so it doesn’t appear in your shop’s search results. Orbit doesn’t yet let plugins set this for you.
- If your Google, Meta or Microsoft product feed includes out-of-stock items, add a feed rule “Tag is
rocketworks-delivery-service→ exclude”. If it doesn’t, there’s nothing to do: service products have no stock, so feeds leave them out.
Don’t delete service products in Products. Use Remove on the Services tab instead — it takes the service off sale but keeps past orders intact.
5. Add the widget to your product page
In the page builder, open your product page template (Storefront → Templates, then the Products tab). From Elements → Single Product, add the Product Review element where you want the widget — despite its name, it shows any plugin’s product-page widget. In its Content settings, under Review Plugin, set Plugin to Delivery & Installation rather than leaving it on Auto (first available).
Place it just below the add-to-basket button. Customers see the services that apply to that product, choose how many items they need it for and add them to their basket in one click. They pick the delivery date after they’ve ordered.
The element keeps 400 px of space by default, even where the widget has nothing to show. Under Advance → Container, set Min Height to about 100 px — the widget still grows to fit what it shows.
Press Save, then Publish. Saving on its own keeps your changes as a draft, and the orange Unpublished changes pill reminds you they aren’t live yet.
Good to know
- Change the widget’s Heading, Accent colour and Price note (for example “+ VAT”) under Settings → Storefront widget. The accent colour is used on the booking page and in emails too.
- Each service shows as On sale on the Services tab. If a price or name change hasn’t reached the service product, press Re-sync.
- Services only appear on products they apply to, so a stationery page won’t offer desk installation.
