If you sell to businesses on account, you know the routine: a spreadsheet of who owes what, statements typed up at month end, and a morning of “just a gentle reminder…” emails. Statements & Credit Control does that work for you.
In this tutorial we’ll install it and set up the one thing every statement and reminder needs: how customers pay you.
Steps in short
- Install Statements & Credit Control.
- Open Credit control from your sidebar.
- It reads B2B invoices and unpaid orders from Orbit.
- Fill in Settings → How customers pay you.
1. Install it from the Orbit plugin store
Find Statements & Credit Control in the Orbit plugin store and install it. It costs £29.99 a month or £299.99 a year, after a 14-day free trial.
2. Open it once
Open Credit control from your dashboard sidebar, under Installed Plugins. The first visit connects the plugin to your store — until then it can’t sync or receive anything from your store, so do it straight after installing.
It reads your invoices and unpaid orders straight away, which takes a minute on a busy store. You don’t type anything in.
3. Know where the numbers come from
- B2B invoices on Orbit’s Enterprise plan, each with a due date and a secure Pay now page.
- Unpaid orders on every plan — payment due, part-paid, and (if you choose) awaiting payment. Orders don’t have a due date of their own, so customers get 30 days unless you change it, per customer if you like.
An order with its own B2B invoice is counted once, as the invoice. Payments are read back from Orbit, so you never record one twice.
4. Tell customers how to pay you
- Payment instructions — your bank details and the reference to use. They appear on every reminder and statement.
- Pay online page — optional; a page where customers can pay by card. Add
{{document_number}}and{{amount_due}}and they’re filled in. - Replies go to — where customers’ replies land, for example your accounts inbox.
- Phone number — shown in the final notice.
Press Save settings.
Why the bank details matter. B2B invoices always carry Orbit’s Pay now button, but Orbit doesn’t let plugins fetch an unpaid order’s own payment link — so for ordinary unpaid orders, reminders show your bank details and pay page.
Good to know
- Nothing is emailed to your customers until you say so. Reminders start switched off — see Set up payment reminders safely.
