Customers only ever see dates you can actually deliver on. Those dates come from your regions — groups of postcodes your crews treat the same way — and the capacity you give each one. In this tutorial we’ll set up your regions, including the Highlands, islands and Northern Ireland, and tell the plugin how many jobs your crews can do.
Steps in short
- Go to Settings → Regions & crew capacity.
- List postcode areas, districts or ranges, separated by commas.
- Use the Common remote areas buttons for a ready-made region.
- Enter how many jobs your crews can do each morning and afternoon.
- Give hard-to-reach areas extra working days, then press Save region.
1. Open Regions & crew capacity
In Plugins → Deliveries, open the Settings tab and scroll to Regions & crew capacity. You’ll already have one region, Rest of the UK. It catches every postcode that doesn’t match another region. You can rename it and set its capacity, but you can’t delete it.
2. Describe a region with postcodes
Add a region and describe it with postcode areas, districts or ranges, separated by commas:
| You type | It covers |
|---|---|
IV | Every postcode starting IV (Inverness and the Highlands) |
HS, KW, ZE | The Western Isles, Caithness & Orkney, and Shetland |
BT | All of Northern Ireland |
AB31-AB38 | AB31, AB32 … up to AB38 (Royal Deeside) |
KW15 | Just the KW15 district (Kirkwall) |
PA20 1 | One postcode sector |
If a postcode matches more than one region, the most specific one wins. AB35 goes to a region listing AB31-AB38 before one listing AB, and B1 (Birmingham) is never confused with BT.
3. Start from a common remote area
For a quick start, press one of the Common remote areas buttons — Scottish Highlands & Islands, Northern Ireland, Isle of Wight and so on. Each adds a region with the right postcodes filled in, ready for you to set its capacity.
4. Set jobs per slot for each day
For each region, set Jobs per slot: how many deliveries your crews can do each morning and each afternoon, for every day of the week. Put 0 on days you don’t deliver there — for example, only Tuesdays and Thursdays for the islands.
If you’ve switched morning and afternoon slots off (Settings → Time slots), this becomes a single jobs per day number.
5. Add extra lead time and save
Extra lead time adds working days for hard-to-reach areas — 3 for the islands, say — on top of your normal lead time. Press Save region on each region when you’re done.
Good to know
- Need to change capacity for one date only — a crew off sick, or an extra van? Do it from the Calendar: click the day, change its crew capacity, and use Reset to go back to your weekly pattern.
- Customers never see how busy you are — only which dates are available.
