A mix & match box lets customers pick a set number of items from a pool you choose — “any 3 candles for £25”, or “pick 3 and save 10%”. In this tutorial we’ll set one up and explain how shoppers choose their box.
Steps in short
- Press New bundle and choose Mix & match.
- Add the products customers can choose from, each once.
- Set Customer picks and whether items can repeat.
- Choose one price per box, or a percentage off what’s picked.
- Press Save & sync; each box becomes a choice on the product.
1. Start a mix & match bundle
In Bundles, press New bundle and choose Mix & match — “Customers pick N items from a pool you choose”. Fill in the name, image link and description as for any bundle.
2. Add the eligible pool
Under Eligible pool, press Add products and add every product customers can choose from. Add each product once — don’t add two variants of the same product to one pool.
3. Set how many they pick
Customer picks is the number of items per box — at least 2, and 3 to start with. Allow the same product more than once is ticked by default, so “2 vanilla and 1 rose” is a valid box.
Every possible box becomes a variant of the bundle product, and a bundle can have up to 150. The counter under the fields shows how many yours makes:
| Customer picks | Largest pool, repeats on | Largest pool, repeats off |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 16 products | 17 products |
| 3 | 8 products | 10 products |
| 4 | 6 products | 9 products |
| 5 | 5 products | 9 products |
4. Set the box price
- Fixed price — every box sells for the same price, whatever is in it.
- % off components — each box costs the picked items’ prices less the discount. For example 2 × £8 and 1 × £12 at 10% off is £25.20.
Ignore the Summary’s price figures for mix & match. They’re worked out over the whole pool rather than one box.
5. Save and sync it
Press Save & sync. On the bundle’s product page, shoppers choose their box from the product’s Selection options — named like “2× Vanilla, 1× Rose”, each with its own price and stock — and add it to the basket as normal.
Good to know
- Changing the pool, the number of picks or the repeats setting creates a new catalogue product and archives the old one, so anything you added to the old product by hand — collections, extra images, SEO — needs adding again.
- A stock cap applies to each box separately.
