Choose headings, product counts and how recommendations are ranked

On this page

The plugin’s settings control what each widget shows and how suggestions are ranked. In this tutorial we’ll go through each setting and explain when your changes reach your storefront.

Steps in short

  1. Open Settings for AI Product Recommendations.
  2. Use the three placement switches and their title fields.
  3. Choose Products per widget and whether to hide out-of-stock items.
  4. Pick an Engine weighting preset.
  5. Press Save changes, then open the AI Recommendations page.

1. Open the plugin settings

Open the plugin’s Settings page — from the ⋯ menu next to the plugin on your Plugins page, or the Open settings link on the AI Recommendations Widget tab.

2. Switch placements on or off and rename them

  • Product page suggestions, with Product widget title — default “You may also like”.
  • Cart cross-sells, with Cart widget title — default “Before you checkout”.
  • Trending block, with Trending widget title — default “Trending now”.

Titles can be up to 60 characters. Clear a title completely and that widget shows no heading at all. A switched-off placement shows nothing, but the product-page widget still records views, so the plugin keeps learning.

3. Set the number of products

Products per widget can be 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 (4 by default). Cards are at least 140 px wide, so on a wide page 6 or 8 fills the row better. Hide out-of-stock products is on by default, so shoppers are never sent to something they can’t buy.

4. Choose how suggestions are ranked

Every suggestion blends three things: how often products are bought together, how often they’re viewed together, and how similar they are. Engine weighting sets the mix:

PresetBought togetherViewed togetherSimilar
Balanced (recommended)50%30%20%
Purchase-led — favour bought-together70%20%10%
Discovery — favour browsing patterns30%40%30%

The weighting applies as shoppers load the widget, so there’s no need to rebuild the model after changing it.

5. Save and apply your changes

Press Save changes. Then open the AI Recommendations page once to apply them straight away — otherwise they reach your storefront within the hour.
